Hooprootz Player Spotlight: Petros Engelhardt

We start our Player Spotlight Series with Maine native Petros Engelhardt. Petros made the trip down last year to Junior Elite 75 and this year he will return 2+ inches taller. Having had a year to mature and grow, we are excited to see Engelhardt on March 15th. More information can be found here.

Player Profile:

Name: Petros Engelhardt

Hometown: South Portland, Maine

Height: 6'0

Position: Forward

Player Interview:

Hooprootz: How is 8th/7th grade going for you so far?

Petros Engelhardt: 8th grade is going pretty well; my teachers are great and I’m enjoying most of my classes.

HR: Are you playing for your middle school team?

PE: Our South Portland basketball squad is doing really well. We’ve won all of our games by at least 15, and I feel like we have a lot of chemistry, compared to other teams.

HR: What part of your game are you looking to work on?

PE: I’m definitely looking to improve my three point shot. I have, however, been taking a lot more mid-range shots, which has been working out well for me.

HR: Do you play any other sports? If so, which..

PE: Besides basketball, I run indoor and outdoor track, and started running cross country a couple years ago. I’m contemplating playing another year of baseball, but the excitement, and constant movement of basketball has made baseball in comparison quite boring.

HR: Besides sports and working out and stuff like that, are you passionate about anything else?

PE: I was on our school’s math team, which sadly didn’t have enough funding to operate this year. I’m looking forward to joining it again in high school. I also enjoy traveling and I recently returned from a trip to Hawaii over the holidays.
